How Does Chiropractic Care Work?

Spinal misalignments are a frequent source of back and neck pain.  Chiropractors use spinal manipulation to move the spinal joint beyond where the musculature could take it but within the limits of the ligaments.  Spinal manipulation involves high velocity/short amplitude movements to free up fixated joints.

It is not know exactly why chiropractic works.  There are multiple theories as to why the treatment is effective but none have been proven.  The real answer might be that the pain relief that many people achieve is due to a variety of factors associated with the treatment modality.
